Minister De Block will talk about the sustainability of the social system in Belgium, how this is linked to boosting economic growth across the country and how businesses can contribute to ensuring that today’s social systems are meeting the needs of society.
After her speech, the Minister will take questions from the audience in a debate moderated by Ambassador Rose.

Maggie De Block is Minister for Social Affairs and Public Health since October 2014. From July 2014 to October 2014 she was Minister for Justice, in charge of Asylum, Migration, Social Integration and the Fight against Poverty. Prior to this role, Minister De Block was Secretary of State for Asylum, Migration, Social Integration and the Fight against Poverty from 2011 to 2014. Before entering the government, she was a federal MP for Bruxelles-Hal-Vilvoorde for 12 years. Maggie de Block is a certified GP since 1991. She holds a PhD in Medicine, Surgery and Obstetrics from the VUB and graduated in 1988.
