One of the main ways the Juncker Commission will demonstrate that it is ‘bigger and more ambitious on big things, and smaller and more modest on small things’ is by ensuring that better regulation is streamlined throughout all of the work and activities of the European Commission.

Ben Smulders, the Head of Cabinet to the First Vice-President of the European Commission, will address the EU Committee over lunch and discuss the work on better regulation within the Commission and ensuring that joint EU-level action is efficient, as well as the Timmermans’ cabinet’s work in cooperation with the European Parliament and the Council to remove unnecessary red tape and administrative burdens at both European and national levels. Mr Smulders will be able to answer members’ questions on the purpose, direction and long term future of the Better Regulation Agenda, and its expected economic impact.
