Every five years citizens of the European Union decide who will be the new Members of the European Parliament (MEPs). Once the MEPs are elected, they become a part of one of the transnational political groups. The big question of the elections therefore is which one of these European groupings will be the one with the greatest influence in the next term. As five years since the last elections of the European Parliament have almost past, we have approached the time when political campaigns are taking shape.

The European political groups express the interests of European political parties within the European Parliament. The European political parties have the exclusive right to campaign during the European elections. In the European Election series we will one by one discover the campaigning practices of ALDE, ECR, EPP and PES. .

Join us at this Lunch & Learn Session with Philipp Hansen for an eye-opening and lively session on campaigning of the ALDE party.

Philipp has been working with the European Liberal Democrats (ALDE Party) since July 2008. He currently serves as head of the political unit. In this role he advises the party’s board on overall political strategy and is in charge of preparing the election campaign for the ALDE Party in 2014.

Previously, he worked several years in the Jordan office of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation affiliated to the German liberal party FDP. He was in charge of different projects in the area of democracy assistance and development cooperation in Iraq, Jordan, Syrian and Lebanon.
