Every five years citizens of the European Union decide who will be the new Members of the European Parliament (MEPs). As five years since the last elections have almost past, we have approached the time when political campaigns are taking shape.
This session of Lunch & Learn – Election series will be focused on Party of European Socialists (PES) campaigning practices, and how the campaign compares to the one for the previous elections in 2009.
We are glad to welcome Marte Ingul, Social Media Advisor on team Martin
Schulz, who will talk about the innovative European
#knockthevote campaign. The PES focuses on
reaching left leaning voters by knocking on actual and virtual doors
across Europe. Her multifaceted background range from journalism,
political science and international relations, and offers a fresh
viewpoint on the Parliament Elections 2014. Marte has been working with Party of European
Socialists (PES) since October 2013. She is a part of the team
running the campaign #knockthevote for @martinschulz, which aims to
get out the votes, supporting Martin Schulz candidacy as Commission
President after the European Elections in May.
Previously, Marte worked several years in the Norwegian Labour Party. She was Editor of the Party Magazine and advisor for the Parliamentary Leader. Marte has worked for the Norwegian Embassy in New Delhi, and as a reporter in Washington DC. On Twitter she is @mingul.
