Many of our younger members/audience have strong links with the UK (academic, professional, personal, etc.) - particularly young professionals working in the Brussels/EU sphere. The perspective of an EU referendum in the UK is therefore of great interest to them, as it would certainly affect their professional and/or personal trajectory. While we most often hear the perspective of politicians or business leaders, it is the younger generation who will be mostly impacted by a potential UK exit. Current polls show that people under 35 years old may be keener on staying in the EU but are less likely to vote, so how can we involve more young people in the debate? What will be the important issues for young people in the referendum?

Join us for a panel debate on one of the most discussed topics of 2016, to the perspectives of young members of the parliament and other youth representatives on the UK referendum and the impact of a potential UK exit on young people.

Confirmed speakers include::

  • Benifei, MEP is a member of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament
  • David Garrahy is the Head of Policy & Advocacy at European Youth Forum.
  • Morten Messerschmidt, MEP is a member of the European Conservatives and Reformists Group from Denmark
