Europe’s governments, businesses and citizens are increasingly concerned  about the circular economy: how to re-use, repair, refurbish and recycle existing materials and products, and manage scarce resource throughout their life cycle. The European Commission estimates that “better eco-design, waste prevention and reuse can bring net savings for EU businesses of up to 600 billion euros, while also reducing total annual greenhouse gas emissions” and create new growth and job opportunities.

The EU Committee will be discuss how the EU’s research agenda can help Europe move into this direction over lunch with Mr Kurt Vandenberghe, Director for climate action and resource efficiency at DG RTD (Research and Innovation).
