We would like to invite you to a Financial Markets Task Force Briefing with Klaus Wiedner, Head of Unit D1 DG FISMA on Bank regulation on Friday 27th May, from 12:30 to 14:00.

After his speech, Klaus Wiedner will take questions from the audience.

The event is free of charge.


As of May 2015, Klaus Wiedner is Head of Unit in DG FISMA responsible for bank prudential regulation including international standards. His current tasks include implementing and reviewing the Capital Requirements Directive (CRD) and the Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR), preparing an initiative on modernising the securitisation regime in the CRR, analysing the possibilities for a European covered bonds framework, participating in the development of international banking standards by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and reviewing the functioning of the Single Supervisory Mechanism.

From 2013 to 2015, Klaus Wiedner was Head of Unit in DG Internal Market and Services competent for all aspects related to insurance and occupational and private pensions, ranging from prudential regulation and consumer protection to international standards.


Prior to this, he was first Deputy Head, then Head of the Unit in DG Internal Market and Services, responsible for the general reform of the European procurement rules, defence procurement, the relationship between public procurement and other policies such as environment, innovation and social policy and enforcement of European procurement rules in Member States


Klaus Wiedner has studied Law in the College of Europe in Bruges.
