At this panel debate Hans Ingels, Head of Unit – Single Market Policy, Mutual Recognition and Surveillance, DG GROW will discuss the Commission’s proposal of “The Goods Package” with Stephen Russel, Secretary General for ANEC and Philippe Portalier, Director Internal Market and Standardisation for Orgalime. This legislation aims to combat raising cases of national protectionism within the single market through two legislative proposals, the mutual recognition of goods and enforcement of the rules. The proposals objectives are to make selling goods across the single market easier for companies (especially SMEs) and to strengthen controls by national authorities to prevent unsafe products reaching the market. Ultimately reinforcing consumer trust in the single market.
