We will have the pleasure of welcoming guest speaker Mrs Maria Moitinho de Almeida, Head of Unit, Health, Safety and Hygeine at Work, DG SANCO and Mr Alvarez Hidalgo, Deputy Head of Unit. Mrs Moitinho de Almeida and Mr Alvarez will give a short presentation about Health and Safety at Work ‘, which will be followed by a Question & Answer session

      Teresa Moitinho has a legal background (degree in law and post- degree in European Law) From 1985 until 1993, she worked in Lisbon, first as a lecturer in the Lisbon University of law and as a lawyer, specialised in Portuguese labour law and family law affairs. She joined  in 1986 the cabinet of the Secretary of State for European Affairs, in the Portuguese Ministry for Foreign Affairs until 1993.

Since 1993, she has been an official of the European Commission, currently serving as Head of Unit at the Health, Safety and Hygiene at Work Unit in the Directorate General “Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion” based in Luxembourg.

       Dr. Francisco Jesús Alvarez Hidalgo is a Medical Doctor. Since 1994, he has been an official of the European Commission, currently serving as Deputy Head of Unit at the Health, Safety and Hygiene at Work Unit in the Directorate General “Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion” based in Luxembourg.

      Dr. Alvarez is in charge, among other duties, of the coordination of the Risk Management Area and the relationships with the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work. Dr. Alvarez has a broad experience in Occupational Health, and has also worked as a director of several public hospitals in Spain.
