Director General, DG GROW | European Commission

Ms Evans’ professional experience in the European Commission stretches to more than 30 years. She first joined DG Financial Control as an administrator in 1983. In 1987 she moved to DG Competition, where she served as a case officer in antitrust and mergers. Between 1993 and 1994 she was Member of Cabinet of Pádraig Flynn Commissioner for Social Affairs; after which she joined DG Employment as Head of Unit first for social protection, social inclusion and older people policies, and then for employment and social policy planning and co-ordination. In 2002 Ms Evans returned to DG Competition, where she held several positions until July 2010. She was Head of Antitrust Unit dealing with trade and other services till 2002. Following that she became Director responsible for antitrust and mergers in services until 2006. Between December 2005 and 2010 she was Deputy Director-General. In July 2010, she joined DG Fisheries and Maritime Affairs, before taking her current role as Director-General of DG GROW in September 2015. Prior joining the Commission, she started her professional career in audit and accountancy with Deloitte.
