Director for Green Economy | European Commission
Born in 1969 in Lithuania, Kęstutis Sadauskas holds a Master's Degree in International Relations at the Institute of Political Science and International Relations, and a Master Degree in Geography. In 1993-2006 he worked in various positions in the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2006, Mr Sadauskas was appointed Head of the Representation of the European Commission in Vilnius, Lithuania. In 2010, he became head of Cabinet of the European Commissioner for taxation, customs, anti-fraud, audit and statistics. On 1st November 2014 Kęstutis Sadauskas assumed his role as the Director for Green Economy in Directorate General Environment of the European Commission. The task of the directorate is to support the transformation of the European Union into a Circular Economy that uses its resources efficiently and decouples economic growth from environmental impact and resource use. It aims at enhancing competitiveness through eco-innovation, promotion of recycling and progressive waste management, and addressing impact of chemicals.
