Join us for an EU Committee lunch briefing with Kay Swinburne, MEP to discuss the current issues in the ECON Committee followed by a session of Q&A

MEP - ECR - UK | European Parliament

Kay is currently the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) Group's Co-ordinator on the Economics and Monetary Committee in the European Parliament (ECON). She is the UK Conservative Spokesperson on Economic and Monetary Affairs. She is a member of the delegation for relations with Switzerland and Norway and to the EU-Iceland Joint Parliamentary Committee and the European Economic Area (EEA) Joint Parliamentary Committee. She is also a substitute member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) and the Special Committee on Tax Rulings and Other Measures Similar in Nature or Effect (TAXE). Dr Swinburne also serves as a Welsh Conservative Party Board Member. Kay was elected as the Conservative MEP for Wales in June 2009. A successful career in investment banking has equipped her with in-depth knowledge of the global financial markets. This, combined with her experience advising businesses in Europe and the US, has led to her appointment on the Economics and Monetary Affairs Committee in the European Parliament. She was educated at Llandysul Grammar School and went on to study Biochemistry and Microbiology at King's College London, followed by a Ph.D. in medical research and an MBA from the University of Surrey.
