Healthcare priorities of the ECR

Many of the public health challenges facing Europe are cross-border in nature, and must thus be met with a coordinated, cross-border response. The European Parliament committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) is an important player in the creation of European public health policy; scrutinising European Commission proposals on public health, and generating proposals on better health legislation for Europe.

G20 & Tax Evasion with Philip Kerfs – Economist/Tax Policy Analyst, International Cooperation and Tax Administration Division, OECD

Philip Kerfs works at the Centre for Tax Policy and Administration of the OECD, where he is co-heading the international co-operation unit. Over the past three years he has mainly worked on the TRACE Project and on the common model for automatic exchange of financial account information.

The Lisbon treaty came into force on the 1st December 2009, revolutionising the way the EU functions. Amongst its many consequences was the creation of the role of President of the European Council, a position currently held by Herman Van Rompuy. He is responsible for chairing the European Council meetings, which have increasingly come to define the overall direction of the Union, as well as being amongst the standard responses in a crisis.
