Pedro Pita Barros

Pedro Pita Barros is Professor of Economics at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. He currently holds other positions: member of the EC Expert Panel on Effective ways of Investing in Health (by appointment of the European Commission), member of the National Council of Ethics for Life Sciences (by Government appointment), member of Conselho Nacional de Saúde (by appointment of the Portuguese Council of University Rectors), research fellow of CEPR (London), and member of the board of Instituto de Políticas Públicas – Thomas Jefferson – Correia da Serra. He served as Vice-rector of Universidade Nova de Lisboa (2013-2017), member of the Board of the Portuguese Energy Regulator (2005-2006), and member of Conselho Superior de Estatistica – Statistics Portugal (2013-2016). He has been awarded with the honorary decorations - Grande-Oficial da Ordem do Infante D. Henrique and Gold Medal for Distinctive Services by the Health Ministry.
