Terhi Lehtonen is the Environment adviser for the Greens/EFA group and has worked on all car emission related EU legislative proposals since 2003. In addition to ENVI work, she was responsible as group staff for CLIM temporary committee on climate 2007-2008 and for EMIS inquiry committee on the dieselgate 2016-2017. From 2001 to 2003, Ms Lehtonen was Political adviser to Heidi Hautala in her work as a MEP and supervised 2 to 3 other colleagues in her office. From 1998 to 2001 she was an EU liaison officer/consultant as the first representative of the City of Turku and of the Regional Council of Southwest Finland towards the EU institutions. As an independent consultant in 1998 and 1999 she also worked with Finpro (Finnish foreign trade association), Invest in Finland Bureau and Embassy of Finland on promoting Finland towards possible international investors. For the period of the Finnish Presidency of the European Union in 1999, Terhi Lehtonen worked as an attachée in the Embassy of Finland in Belgium. Terhi Lehtonen gained a Master’s of Political Science in 2003 from the University of Turki and gained her Bachelor in International Relations and International Law in 1994.
